A black arabian colt stepped out of the trees, his high stepping hooves taking him unhesitantly towards the river. Ebon head was held high and proud by a neck arched with an arrogant set. Every inch of his body showed his fearlessness, his spirit, and his pride at what he was doing.
He knew where he was going, and what that place meant. He was old enough to know better, but yet he was still young enough to want to show off to his friends. Besides, his pride never let him back down from a dare before, and even though this one was probably the most dangerous he was doing, he wasnt going to wimp out now. He also knew that if he didnt play his cards right, he wouldnt make it out of this one free.

Vulcan danced beneath her. The large, fiery bay was eager to go, eager to eatup the ground with his stride. The land was open and Medeia knew what this pace was for. A large feild with a river dividing it in two, surrounded by thick forest. This was where wild horses were caught. Her dog, Drake, darted in and out of the forest. The large red Doberman sent squirrels and rabbits scurrying. A sigh escaped the human. She sent out a short whistle and the dog returned to her side.
She didn't expect any ort ofcreature to turn up with this noisy canine but if one came along she would give chase. Her 6 horse barn was feeling very empty with only one horse to fill it. She would perfer amare but a stallion or colt would do also. She sat back in the saddle and waited, slowly drifting off into daydreams when Vulcan gave a snort and pawed. Medeia started awake and looked off toward the river where an Arabian colt was looking around. A smile played upon her lips and she gave Drake the command to circle the horseand end up where she would be chasing it. The dog replied and took off intop the woods. She smiled and readied her rope, clucking vulcan forward, the young stallion responded he trotted closer and before the Arabian could respond exploded into a fast powerful canter quickly gaining ground.

Cobalt lowered his head to the water, his muzzle dipping into the cool liquid. Ebon auds heard the sound of something in the woods, and his heart seemed to stop its slow cadence in his chest before quickening. He flung his head up, spraying water everywhere, his eyes searching the forest edge for any sign of an enemy.
Seeing nothing, he lowered his head back to the water, his auds still pointed in the direction of the woods behind him. His body was tense, every muscle ready to flee on a moments notice. There was something in there, something that wasnt freindly or had good intentions. Though, if it was a predator, he probably wouldnt have heard it.
The colt wasnt afraid, at least not yet. He was more excited and exhilareted (though that really wasnt the word he was looking for) than scared. Adrenaline pumped through his body, and he was ready to go, no matter what came out of those woods.
OOC: Sorry about the wait.

The colt didn't move. Not an inch. Just his head and a flick of his auds. She needed to stop, return and rush once more possibly making some noise. Problem. The muscled mass of horse flesh beneath her did not have a vocabulary that included 'stop'. She sat back and jerked her mouth, he responded by lowering his head and speeding up. She tried to circle and finally resorted to sawing his mouth. Harsh yes, but this horse seemed to have a mouth like rocks. This didn't stop the beast, but slowed him to a more controllable pace.
She turned him and went back to her original starting point. Her gaze followed out to the woods beyond the stag as her hands readied the rope. Eyes gathered what she didn't want to see. Drake was growing restless. She went for her dog whistle that hopefully would not disturb the stallion, but she was too late. Drake slunk to the ground and sprung off his powerful haunches. Rocketing into the air and eating immense pieces of ground between each stride. Teeth bared and saliva flying he closed in approaching the stags left shoulder.
Medeia had no choice but to once more spring her horse into a gallop. He happily responded.
ooc: so sorry about the wait. i mananged to get grounded on the 3rd day of school! that takes talent lol [/size]

Cobalt saw a shadow leaping out of the corner of his left eye, and sheid instinctivly away from it, once again spraying water everywhere. His nares caught the distinct scent of a dog as he galloped away from the attacker.
His heart pounded in his chest, and his legs pumped widly. The colt didnt know where he was going, but when he heard the sound of pounding hooves coming toward him in the direction he was going, he knew it was the wrong way.
Whinnying in fear and frustration, now caught between two enemies, he swerved to his left, in the direction of the woods, and now perpendicular to his original path.

She touched her right leg to the horses flank and he eagerly sprung into acton. He was a good bit larger than the colt which now apeared to be an Arabian and was gaining on him. His massive stride steadily closing the gap. Nares huffed but the horse showed no fatigue in him and Medeia knew he could run like this for days. Nothing phased this horse.
Drake was a bit behind, but sticking close to the woods. He knew that if the colt made it to the dense forest he would have the advantage and possibly be able to herd the colt back out into the open or at least chase it until it collapsed from exhaustion. He let out a few joyous barks knowing stealth wasnt the objective any longer.
Medeia readied her hand on her rope, waiting for the perfect time to toss the lasso. She wanted to get it done before the colt hit the woods, she had time and the gap was closing further...

OOC: how was your vacation? Fun I hope! ^^ On another note, my parents just made me move, without telling me that I was moving before hand, and they wont put up the internet yet. I'm at a library right now. Sorry it took a month. o.O
Cobalt's ebon legs pumped harder as he heard the hooves gaining on him, but it only increased his speed a little. He knew that his only hope would be to out-trick the other, or to out-last him. Stamina and brains were on his side (he hoped), but two foes, speed, and inexperience were against him.
Fear nagged at him, urging him to let out his last two notches of speed. Black neck stretched parallel to the ground, auds pinned back. His vast store of energy was burning up quick, his fear making it harder for him to reserve some.
He wanted to let out the two notches of speed he had in him, but both of them would only burn up his testosterone fueled energy even faster, and even if he did, he wouldn’t gain a significant enough lead on his pursuers. Frustration crept in on the colt, and he had to fight off the urge to go faster, to escape the feeling of being trapped. Usually, he would have escaped by now, he could out run any colt in the band he traveled with.
There was no plan of escape in the colt's head, so he let the dog and the other horse shepherd him to where-ever they wanted. Maybe then, a plan could come.
